How to Create and Assign Workouts from the Calendar

Learn how to create and assign workouts to your athletes from the EndoGusto calendar, from scratch or from your Library, in a few clicks.

Written by EndoGusto Support

The EndoGusto Calendar is where you plan every session for your athletes. You can assign a workout to any day by building it from scratch, picking one from your Library, or dragging it straight onto the calendar. Each workout is tied to the athlete whose calendar you're viewing, so what you assign here is what they see in their app.

This guide walks you through creating and assigning workouts from the Calendar, using each of the three methods.

Assign a Workout from a Calendar Day

Step 1: Open the Athlete's Calendar

Click Calendar in the top navigation bar. Use the athlete selector in the top left of the page to pick the athlete you want to plan for. The month view shows their existing workouts as cards inside each day.

Step 2: Click + on the Day and Pick a Sport

Hover over the day you want to schedule and click the + that appears under the date. A sport picker opens with Run, Cycle, Swim, Strength, and Other sports, plus Rest, Note, and Race for non-workout entries.

Click the sport for the session. The Workout Builder opens with the athlete's name shown at the top and the date already filled in.

Step 3: Fill In the Workout Details

Click the "From scratch" tab. Enter a Name of the workout and check the Date. Then set the fields that control how the workout is prescribed:

  • Metric: choose Heartrate, Pace, or RPE. This decides what the zones in each step refer to.

  • Zone method: pick the zone model for this workout, for example EG 5-zone %LTHR. The athlete's current threshold shows under the field once a method is selected. To use your own zones, click "+ Set custom zones" or see How to Set Up Custom Training Zones.

  • Gradient and Elevation are optional.

  • Workout instructions is a free-text field for general guidance about the whole session.

Switch on Invisible to athlete if you want to build the workout now but keep it hidden from the athlete until you're ready. To release it on a schedule instead, see How to Schedule a Workout Release.

Step 4: Add the Workout Steps

Click "+ Add step" in the bottom bar. A step row appears with a Type dropdown, a Duration in hours, minutes, and seconds (click Distance to prescribe by distance instead), and an Intensity dropdown. Set the intensity on every step you want counted toward the workout's stress; the builder shows a reminder that intensity values are required to calculate stress.

Each step also has a Lap button press toggle and a pencil icon on the right that opens a note field for that step. See How to Add Step Notes to Workouts for how athletes see those notes.

To build intervals, click "Add repeat". A repeat block appears with a Repeat [n] times counter and its own "Add step" button. Add the steps you want repeated inside the block. The step count and Total stress update in the bottom bar as you go.

Step 5: Assign the Workout

When the workout is complete, click "Assign workout" in the bottom right. The workout card appears on the selected day in the athlete's calendar.

If you want to reuse this workout later, tick Save to Library before clicking "Assign workout". The workout is then assigned and saved to your Library in one action.

Step 6: Pick a Saved Workout on the From Library Tab

If you already have the workout saved, click the "From library" tab at the top of the Workout Builder instead of building it again. Use the Search workouts field or narrow the list with the All folders and All workouts dropdowns. Workouts are grouped by category with their duration next to the name.

Click the arrow on the workout you want. It is assigned to the selected day for that athlete.

Drag Workouts Straight onto the Calendar

For faster planning, you can skip the Workout Builder entirely and use drag and drop.

From the library panel. Click the library icon at the top of the icon strip on the left of the calendar. A panel opens with a Search workouts and notes field, an All Sports filter, your folders, and every saved workout grouped by sport. Drag any workout onto a day and release; the card appears on that day immediately with no confirmation step. Click the red X at the top of the panel to close it.

From the sport icons. Drag a sport icon from the icon strip onto a day. The day highlights while you hover, and when you release, the Workout Builder opens on the "From scratch" tab with that sport and date already set. Build and assign the workout as in Steps 3 to 5.

What Your Athletes See

Once assigned, the workout appears as a card on the same day in your athlete's calendar, on desktop and in the mobile app. The card shows the workout name, planned duration, distance, and training stress. Opening it shows every step with its zones and any step notes you added. Workouts marked Invisible to athlete stay hidden until you switch the toggle off.

Tips for Coaches

  • Save every reusable session to the Library. Ticking Save to Library as you assign costs nothing and means next week's version is a drag and drop away.

  • Plan a whole week from the library panel. Keep the panel open and drop sessions onto each day in one pass instead of opening the builder for every workout.

  • Use Invisible to athlete for drafts. Build the block ahead of time and reveal sessions when you're ready, so athletes only see finalized plans.

  • Set intensity on every step. Without it the Total stress stays empty, and your athlete's training load in Training insights won't reflect the session.

  • Reorder multi-session days after assigning. If you add a second workout to a day, drag the cards to set the sequence. See How to Reorder Workouts on a Calendar Day.
